Here's how it works: SaleSniff tracks prices daily for every product we monitor, building a complete 30-day price history. From that data, we compute a Sniff Score — a number from 0 to 100 that measures how trustworthy a discount really is. The score factors in price stability, whether the original price was inflated before the sale, and how the current price compares to the 30-day average.

Tips for Finding Real Discounts
Even without SaleSniff, there are habits that will help you avoid overpaying during sales events. Keep these in mind next time you're browsing Shopee:
- Check the price history, not just the listed discount. A "50% off" badge means nothing if the original price was inflated last week. The real question is: what has this product actually been selling for over the past month?
- Look for products with consistent pricing. Wild price swings — especially right before sale events — are a red flag. Products with stable histories are more likely to offer genuine discounts when the price finally drops.
- Compare the current price to the 30-day average. If today's "sale price" is still above or barely below the monthly average, you're not really saving anything. A real deal sits meaningfully below the average.
- Be skeptical of discounts over 50%. Most genuine deals on Shopee PH fall in the 10-30% range. When you see 60% or 70% off on everyday items, the math rarely adds up. Bigger numbers usually mean a bigger markup was added first.
